Badlaav Social Reform Foundation, India

Badlaav Social Reform Foundation is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organisation based in Pune, Maharashtra India. It was founded in 2019 by two environmentalists; Radhika Dhingra and Rosalie Shrestha, who both graduated in 2020 from the University of Koblenz and Landau in Germany with Master’s Degrees in Environmental Sciences.

Badlaav believes that social and environmental justice go hand-in-hand and are achieved through community-based education and awareness-raising.

We are partnering with Badlaav on project SAKSHAM, which stands for “Safe Knowledge on Sexual Health and Menstruation”. Through the SAKSHAM project, Badlaav trains women in the community to become Community Mobilisers who deliver evidence-based interactive sessions which explore the lived-experience of menstruation, the female reproductive system, and the sustainable management of menstrual health alternatives.

Equal Community Foundation, India

The Equal Community Foundation-ECF was established in 2009 in Pune, Maharashtra India, to address the issue of Gender Based Violence-GBV.

ECF’s mission is to empower individuals in India towards a gender inclusive and equitable society.

Since 2009, ECF had been implementing its flagship Gender Equity Social Action Program- Action for Equality to 20 low-income communities in Pune. It has an outreach of over 6000 young people.

We are working together to bring the Acton for Equality program to Nepal in 2024. Our aim is to train 32 NGO workers as well teachers and social workers in Pokhara to become Mentors so they can deliver Action for Equality programs to over 600 young people over the next three years.

Through the Action for Equality programs, young people will have the opportunity to work with their Mentors and actively challenge gender norms, promote positions of social and political influence for women in their communities, and to address power inequities in families and communities.

United Community Nepal-UniCoN- was established in 2022 in Pokhara, Nepal to address the issue of poverty. UniCoN believes the key to breaking the poverty cycle is education. Education empowers children, young people and communities to tackle the root causes of discrimination, exclusion and poverty.

UniCoN is our NGO partner on the ground in Pokhara. We are working together over the next three years to establish over 30 Action for Equality programs in marginalised communities. Here is a summary of our plans..

  • Address the root causes of gender inequality and exclusion in Nepal and reshape unequal gender and power relations.

  • Challenge attitudes which hold girls back from achieving their full potential to exercise their rights.

  • Break down the barriers that prevent men and boys from embracing gender equality.
